All the interior has been destroyed and only the walls of the building remain standing. Doors and windows have been completely burnt and the funeral bier, chairs and pews have been lost.
Also destroyed in the fire was the street sweeping machine recently purchased by the Town Council.
The Chapel had not been used for services for a number of years but has been a calm place for people to sit and it has been part of the fabric of Clare life for generations.
The building and contents were insured so Clare Town Council will have the opportunity to review how this lovely building can be restored and made part of daily life in Clare once more.
