Clare Christmas Lights

The beautiful lights of Clare were switched on in front of a very large crowd of children and their families, and the Mayor of St Edmundsbury, Cllr Patricia Warby, was delighted to lead the children in the countdown.

Before the switch on, the traditional Scottish Piper led a parade of children, all holding glow sticks, from the Church door in High Street round into Market Hill.
During the parade, one of our Town Councillors, Tony Sharp, was being interviewed on Drive Time on Radio Suffolk, really putting Clare's Christmas Lights on the map!

A new event this year was a painting competition for the children of Clare Primary School who were asked to paint "A Christmas Scene" and out of the many entries it was difficult to choose a winner.  Seen here are the winners of the year groups Harriet Shaw (Oak), Sonny Smith (Ash), Abbey Humphrey (Cedar) and the overall winner Annecy Webb.  The paintings of all the children who entered can be viewed in the windows of the Sea Pictures Gallery and the Clare Pharmacy.

And our much loved Magic Ollie was there once again to entertain the children (and some of the adults too!)

Tickets are also still available for the Best Christmas Shop Window Competition.  Enter your vote by 18 December and it's your chance to win a Christmas hamper with all proceeds going to the Christmas Lights Fund.
