Global tunes ring out from historic park
MUSIC fans made their annual visit to Clare on Saturday to enjoy sounds from around the world.
Geno Washington and the Ram Jam Band topped the bill at the Clare World Music Festival, which featured top international acts performing in the delightful grounds of Clare Country Park, the historic Suffolk home of Clare's mediaeval Castle.
Also appearing were Trenchtown Experience (pictured), with both these acts having performed at the festival before and back by popular demand.
The bands line-up included Outpatients who were this year's winners of the Haverhill Battle of the Bands competition. Also on show were acts including: Eddie & the Hotrods, The Smouldering Sons, The Robin Bibi Band, The Fat Cat Trio and Jellyroll.
Also, by special request to cater for more modern dance music tastes, DJ Durban was on the decks straight from his club stint in Ibiza. His mixture of drum and bass along with a sprinkling of hard house certainly woke a few people up!!!
Visitors were able to relax in the sunshine and enjoy the top class music with a glass of Bootleg ale specially brewed by Nethergate Brewery just for the festival.
The festival is designed to raise funds for local charities. Promotions Manager Howard Jackson said: "We were very pleased with the number of visitors which we estimated to be close on 2,000 people!"
The committee will now have a much needed summer break before getting together later in the year to plan next year's event.
