Dentist fails to get his job back
A DENTIST whose “deficient” treatment left patients in agony has failed in an attempt to get his job back.

Robert Hossack, who practised in Clare, was struck off the dentists’ register in October last year after his treatment of four patients was found to be “seriously deficient”.

The General Dental Council’s professional conduct committee also ruled two of them had suffered “unnecessary pain and discomfort” as a result of his procedures.

Mr Hossack’s attempt to have the ban overruled at the High Court failed on Monday.

He had argued the GDC had failed to properly abide by its procedural rules when it came to its decision in
October.

But Mr Justice Collins, upholding the council’s ruling, said: “The decision of the committee was one which it was entitled to reach and has not been shown to be flawed in any way.”

One of Mr Hossack’s former patients, Rosemary Seaborn of Haverhill, said she was delighted with the outcome. “You would not believe the pain I went through. I still have problems now,” she said.
