Cambridge Astronomer talks to Middle School
YEAR 5 pupils at Clare Middle School have spent the last few weeks learning about space and as part of their studies Peter Ingram a Cambridge University leading astronomer came to the school to talk to them about the British built Beagle 2 spacecraft.
As well as the talk he brought with him an identical probe to the original Beagle 2, which went missing during its mission to Mars. The children were allowed to touch the £35 million twin probe that had been created for testing purposes. The probe will be on display later at the Science Museum in London.
Mr Ingram also showed the children photographs and rocks from space and provided information about planets, asteroids and comets.
