Book Success for Local Brewer
IAN Hornsey’s book “The History of Brewing” has proven to be so popular since it was published just before Christmas that Radio 4’s The Food Programme will be visiting Clare to record Ian brewing some beer according to a recipe some 7000 years old!

Mr Hornsey who took up writing books about beer when ill health forced him to give up his connection with Nethergate Brewery in 1999, has been placed on the BBC’s experts list as the person to be consulted when anything involving beer arises. He started writing his books because there had not been a definitative book on the subject for some 25 years and many changes had happened in that time.

His latest book has taken 3.5 years to prepare which involved him reading over 500 books and papers and his publisher have now commissioned him to write a book on the history of wine which he expects will take up the next 18 months. He has also been approached by Herriott Watt University in Edinburgh to help them on a consultancy basis in their International Centre for Brewing and Distilling.

The “History of Brewing” is available in bookshops priced £39.99
