Death of Popular Priest
FATHER Pat Killian OSA of Clare Priory has died at the age of 89. Father Pat had been a member of the Augustinian community at Clare Priory for the last 22 years and had originally joined the Augustinian order of Priests in 1934 in Dublin.

He was known for his love of animals and nature and was known for liking things to be “done properly”. Whilst at the priory he had a pet rabbit and a cockatiel and was also in charge of the priory grounds.

Father Ben O’Rourke OSA, the Town Priest at the Priory said that Father Pat had been known for having a gift of relating to young people and he had been responsible for opening a number of sports clubs in Townes he had worked in as well as being a motorbike enthusiast in younger days.

Father Pat who was educated in Dublin and Rome had meticulously followed his daily prayer routine as a friar despite ill health in recent years. He had taught at the Austin Friars School in Carlisle as well as belonging to Augustinian communities in Ireland, Kent, Dundee and Hoxton in London.

His funeral will take place at the Priory on 9th February at noon.
