Australian Police assist in Clare
AN Australian Police Officer who was staying in Cavendish for the Christmas period came to the aid of local Police Officer P.C. Martin Parsonson when he was struggling to arrest a violent man in Clare.
Mr Capewell who is 40 and works as an acting Sergeant in the Queensland Police Service has been rewarded for his courage with a certificate and letter of thanks which he was presented with at Haverhill Police Station. He returns to his Brisbane home along with his wife Joanna and five year old son Jack this week.
He explained that the Australian Policing system is very similar to the British system and because of that he is familiar with Police procedure.
Haverhill Police Inspector Mark Jepson praised Mr Capewell and said the Police do rely on the community to assist at times. He pointed out that Mr Capewell had shown great courage in helping an officer in need of assistance.
