Ruby Wax at Clare Charity Event
RUBY Wax was in Clare on 6th December at a Charity event in the Town Hall, which was to raise money for the children’s charity The Rainbow Trust.

The charity raises money for terminally ill children and is aiming to support an additional 20,000 families. The trust has two respite homes but also offers emotional support and help for families whose children are being looked after at home. Last year the bill for the trust came to more than 10 million pounds and the evening in Clare is thought to have raised in excess of £1000.

The evening started off with canapés and champagne being served to all before Ruby Wax gave a presentation to the event with her usual mixture of wit and cutting humour. Ruby was happy to stay and talk to everyone and be photographed as well as giving some autographs.

Afterwards the audience were entertained by punk band Swindle playing a wide range of mostly punk music ranging from the late 1970’s to early 1980’s until the headliners The Paul Cox Band came on celebrating their tenth anniversary of the first time they played in Clare.

Event organiser Paul Spurgeon said, “It was an absolutely superb evening. Ruby was just so funny. The support band Swindle went down an absolute storm as did the headline act Paul Cox Band”
