Second Theft Puts Lives in Danger
A Clare Fire Fighter has spoken of his fear that lives could be in danger following a second theft of a bicycle he used to get to Clare Fire Station as a retained fire fighter.
Carl Benson who runs his own business in Clare has been a retained fireman for the Clare station for six years, uses his bicycle as it is the quickest way to get to the Fire Station when he is called out. Using the bike helps him avoid any hold ups he may encounter if he were driving.
The second theft that took place on October 11th happened after Mr Benson had gone into the Bell in Clare in the evening and left his bike outside. He was only there for half an hour when he discovered the bike had been stolen. Less than a year ago the bicycle he owned previously was also stolen.
Following an unsuccessful poster appeal around the town for any information, Carl has currently been lent another mountain bike to use to get to the Fire Station. With the two thefts arising to a loss of around £1000, Suffolk Police are urging anyone with information to call them on 01284 774100.
