Clare in Bloom Wins Bronze at National Awards
THE Clare in Bloom committee was presented with a bronze award at the Britain in Bloom awards held at The Guildhall in London on 30th September. 800,000 people attended the awards ceremony and Clare was nominated in the Best Large Village category.

It is the first year Clare have represented East Anglia in the National Britain in Bloom awards and they were “extremely pleased with the efforts” “We knew it was going to be difficult to win and to get where we did was remarkable in itself” said Mark Ramsay of the Clare in Bloom committee.

The town was described as a “colourful town with climatic conditions” and the judges were very impressed particularly with the regeneration of The Nuttery, the floral displays including the roses around the church, the Country Park and the involvement of the two schools and nursery school in helping with the planting.

Britain in Bloom is the largest horticultural campaign in Europe and is organised by the Royal Horticultural Society. More information about the campaign can be seen in a special programme to be shown on BBC2 on Sunday 5th October at 8pm.
