Clare Computer Club closes after 10 years
DEREK Wootley, the clubs President was joined by Vic Harmsworth the Hon. Treasurer to announce the closure of Clare's long established Computer Club.
In the light of having received no objections to their notice issued in January 2003, the Club has been completely wound up and the closing bank balance of £373.74 was donated to the Clare Charity, Clare Liaison & Support Project (CLASP).
The cash was donated to CLASP to offer much neeeded support for the minibus which provides such valuable transportation to so many of the residents in and around Clare.
The Hon. Treasurer of CLASP has written to Clare Computer Club to express their thanks for the donation.
The balance of cash in hand, some £1.42 has been donated to the Clare Wednesday Club luncheon funds.
Both Mr Wootley and Mr Harmsworth wanted it to be known that although the computer club had to be disbanded, Clare still had has it's own resident computer expert.
Founder member of the club and a regular speaker, Mr. Paul O’Dell, is now in his 3rd year of owning and running Clare Computer Services on the Market Hill.
Paul is a highly experienced and respected computer hardware and software expert and is always ready to assist any former members or persons new to personal computing with any computing problems, regardless of complexity. Story By: Steve Bryant
