Bell Hotel snubs Jubilee celebrations
JUBILEE celebrations in Clare were made even more special by the enormous amount of Union Flags, bunting, banners and decorations displayed by many residents and businesses alike. Many locals were delighted to see the tremendous amount of time and effort spent to decorate the town’s buildings.
However there was a number prominent building’s that disappointingly did not join in with the community spirit, most noticeable of which was The Bell Hotel on Clare’s Market Hill.
With a brand new colour scheme following extensive refurbishment, the hotel is a very prominent and attractive building within the town and is historically very important. However for the entire Jubilee weekend, not a single flag was hoisted up on the building’s flagpole.
Many residents commented that to leave an actual flagpole bare during such an important national event was quite insulting and at the very least the Bell Hotel let down the community of Clare.
Residents are now hoping that if England carry on doing well in the World Cup that the Bell Hotel may be able to redeem itself a little bit by hoisting up a patriotic St George Cross.
If the Bell Hotel has no use for it’s flagpole, give it to someone who can make good use of it and fly the flag!
