Website now helping town businesses
Businessmen in Clare are beginning to see the benefits of the town’s new website, given an official launch on Tuesday.
It was created last year, but received the launch at the annual meeting of Clare Business Association because It is now an established working website.
The website was created by Jason Fitzpatrick, who is also responsible for the Haverhill website, and then Clare Town Council put together a working party with Jason to take it further.
Council vice-chairman and chairman of the business association Jeff Stevens said it was now bringing in real benefits to the town’s businesses, who all have a free directory listing on the site with the option of having their own separate page added.
A Directory upgrade that enhances local business entries as well as offering Email and Web links costs as little as £29 per year.
The site is averaging 600 hits a month, and had 60 on one day recently, which shows a large increase on when it started. One couple attending the launch, who run a bed and breakfast business in Clare, received two bookings through the site , one from the US and one from Germany, without even knowing they were on it! They have now taken advantage of adding a full page to the site as well as upgrading their directory entry.
Also launched at the meeting was a new leaflet about Clare to be made available at tourist information centres throughout East Anglia. It includes information about the town and also about the businesses that are sponsoring the leaflet.
