Glowing report for village playgroup
CLARE Playgroup is celebrating a glowing report from OFSTED inspectors, who found that it had no significant weaknesses.
Rosemary Ace, leader of the playgroup, said she was delighted with the report especially as it was quite a small group. Last year, the playgroup had a waiting list and more than 20 children attending, but this year numbers were down to only 10 and places would be available in September.
The group meets regularly at the Old School Community Centre in Callis Street Clare.
Inspectors found that it was a small, friendly playgroup were children were confident, well behaved and had a positive attitude towards learning.
The quality of learning was good and children were making good progress towards early learning goals in all areas. Children were making very good progress in mathematical development and used numbers correctly in conversation.
Youngsters were eager to learn about aspects of the natural world and enjoyed planting their own potatoes and beans, as well as watching tadpoles evolve into frogs. Teaching was good and staff had a clear understanding of early learning goals. It is an effective partnership with parents and carers, who both receive clear information and often extend their children's learning at home.
Report in Brief
The playgroup provides a stimulating environment in which children thrive and make good progress.
Children's personal, social and emotional development is good; they are confident and encouraged to learn.
Children are becoming effective communicators.
Children with special educational needs receive good support.
However, the group needs to improve resources and also staff skills to ensure children use information and communication technology to support their learning.
