Horticultural society show success
The Clare and District Horticultural Society Show, held on November 6th was once more a great success for the organisers and competitors alike. In spite of fewer entries in some of the classes, there was a wonderful display of fruit, vegetables and flowers, with an especially large number of entries in the wine classes. Mr Peter Fisk and Mr Gordon Twitchett, both from Clare astounded everyone with the remarkable quality and size of their vegetables. Mr Twitchett won the Garden News Top Tray award for his collection of vegetables, including some astonishing leeks! The cookery class was won by Mrs Bloomfield. Chrysanthemum cups were won by Mr and Mrs Smith, the Floral Arts cup was won by Mrs Orbell and the Children’s cup by Vanessa Drayton.
