Local Transport Plan
SUFFOLK BUSINESSES, local organisations and interested individuals will shortly be able to have their say in shaping transport plans for the county over the next five years or so.
Suffolk County Council is currently working on the transport plan, which will be submitted to Government in July 2000 and is organising a series of evening meetings around the county to discuss the plan’s contents.
A provisional transport plan was published earlier this year and this will be used as the basis for discussing priorities for transport investment in the county. Emphasising the importance of providing services to meet local needs, Ros Scott, member of the executive committee, said: “These meetings will allow the public to get involved in shaping the development of Suffolk’s Local Transport Plan”. Joan Girling, also member of the executive committee, added: “We want to hear the views of local communities on existing transport problems, however small”
A summary leaflet explaining the main points for the provisional plan has been produced and is available free from the county, district and borough council offices and local libraries..
