Pupils Brave Weather to Help Injured Teacher
On Friday 24th September, pupils and staff of Hedingham School took part in a ten mile sponsored walk to raise money for Addenbrooke’s Hospital neurological intensive care unit.
The sponsored walk for Addenbrooke’s is a biannual event for Hedingham School, but this year it had added poignancy, as the school’s Head of Science is still seriously ill in the hospital many months after being attacked in Cambridge. The walk from Hedingham to Gestingthorpe and back took much of the day and took place inspite of the heavy downpours which punctuated the amble. Walkers also fund-raised for Headway, a charity which supports families of people with head injuries. The school’s Headteacher, Susan Anderson, said “This is in Support of Tim Rendell, Head of Science, who is still in Addenbrooke’s following his terrible accident in May. He is still very much in our thoughts and prayers.”
It is thought that between £5000 and £10000 will have been raised.
