Successful Christmas Lights Event
5 year old Isla Smith was the lucky girl who had the responsibility of pressing the big red button to switch on the Christmas lights in Clare on Friday. Chair of Clare Town Council, Keith Haisman opened the event with a well deserved thank you to the outgoing Christmas Lights Committee (Pippa Smith, Marie Baker, Barbara Wilder and Claire Kent), which was heartily supported by the audience. Cllr. Haisman then welcomed the Mayor of St Edmundsbury, Cllr. Terry Buckle and Father Christmas while Isla prepared to press the button and the Mayor led the large crowd in the count down.

The event was as popular as ever with local families bringing their children to collect a glow stick and join the procession led by a piper to gather in front of the Christmas tree and join in the count down. With the town lit up, the crowd was then entertained by Magic Olly while mulled wine, hot dogs and mince pies were served by the dedicated team of volunteers from the community.
