The open air pool at Clare Middle School has been open again this summer.

Despite the fact that the weather wasn't always very kind, the pool was still popular even on overcast days.  

Early morning swimmers included some of our our regular ladies who could benefit from having the pool almost to themselves.  Later in the day the families arrived and it was very noticeable just how many younger children were pool regulars.  And of course they are much stronger swimmers now.

The lifeguards this year were three young men from Clare who undertook their lifeguard training at the swimming pool in Sudbury.  They were well supported by a large number of volunteers from the Clare community.

On the last day that the pool was open there was a fun day for all comers including piggy- back races, dolphin races and a 9-leg relay race including both children and adults. Lots of fun and lots of laughs.

Over the three weeks that the pool was open there were over 1,100 swimming visitors which shows just what a great demand there is for this wonderful swimming pool.  Let's hope it will be open in summer 2011!
