Clare goes to No.10!
Representatives of the Stour Valley Educational Trust (SVET) and C.L.A.R.E went to No 10 Downing Street this week at the invitation of the Prime Minister.
SVET has submitted a proposal to create a new 11-16 school on the Clare Middle School site commencing in September 2011. The school will be named Stour Valley Community School and as well as attracting children from the current feeder primary schools in Clare, Cavendish, Glemsford, Hartest, Hundon and Wickhambrook, it is expected that pupils from across the border in Essex will be attracted to the school too.
Trustees of SVET, Keith Haisman, Patrick Bell and Derek Blake were accompanied by Diana Sharp, Chair of C.L.A.R.E. Our group was able to spend time in the Cabinet Room with David Cameron and Michael Gove and they gave commitments that they will will provide the decisions and resources to make sure that Stour Valley Community School will open in September 2011 and that it will be a school of which the whole community can be truly proud.
On 21 July at 7pm a Public Meeting will be held at Clare Middle School to update parents and the community on the educational opportunities which Stour Valley Community School will deliver for the community.
