Clare's in Bloom
The 2010 Open Gardens event has been a great success thanks to the hard work of many green fingered volunteers and a little bit of summer sunshine. 14 private gardens in total opened to members of the public over the weekend of 26 and 27 June and Clare saw a steady stream of visitors.
The local society CLASP kindly donated their minibus and drivers to run a hop-on hop-off bus service throughout the weekend, ensuring that visitors could enjoy all the gardens without becoming too exhausted in the heat! The refreshment stalls were also particularly well received, and many thanks go to the volunteers who made cakes and to the Clare Co-Op for donating drinks.
The Clare in Bloom committee who organised the event would like to thank everyone involved in making the weekend a success, particularly the house owners and volunteers for opening their beautiful gardens. Special thanks also goes to David Burr Estate Agents who sponsored signposts to advertise the event and to Sturmer Nurseries and Pauger Plants who provided plant stalls for everyone who had been filled with inspirational garden ideas whilst on their tour of the Open Gardens!
Money raised as a result of the event will help Clare in Bloom to continue planting around the town, providing colourful displays throughout the year.
