Hello there people of Clare !! I saw your lovely village on the news last night and found an uncanny link to my wife - her name is Clare Bailey ! I noticed the village sign on the news item, it said 'CLARE' and then underneath something like 'Anglo, Saxon, Bailey' etc. I also saw a standard road sign on the news item, it said 'CLARE - please drive carefully'. I would REALLY appreciate it if someone could take a picture of the name sign with the 'Clare, Anglo Saxon, Bailey' on it and the 'Clare - Please drive carefully' sign and email them to me. My wife would be very impressed :-) Cheers all

Can anyone tell me why the river levels are so erratic ,one day it's low and the next it's flooding. Also is there any plans to improve the country park? it seems to be looking a bit run down !!

I think it should be made clear that Clare & District Day Care Centre was an independent organisation and not run by CLASP. It is unfortunate that both Monday and Friday meetings have now been closed, but lack of volunteers with the commitment to work regularly and meet with current legislation requiremnts has had its toll. This also has a knock-on effect to CHOC and the CLASP minibus as both orgainsations benefitted by the revenue raised by patronage of the Day Care Centre in hire fees. I know that many other organisations are struggling to survive as the generation with the "volunteering ethic" and those wishing to put something back into society, grows older and there are no younger replacements coming forward to raise funds and commit to hands-on work. Congratulations on the new website - a very valuable source of local information

The main buses are between Sudbury and Haverhill but there is a four-hour gap in the middle of the day when people might have more interest in public transport. There are two buses daily to Bury St Edmunds in the morning, returning in the afternoon. It is NOT possible to use a bus to Bury in the afternoon, nor to return from Bury in the morning. Currently there are no buses on Sunday. With a population increasing with age, bus passes require some careful consideration unless one wishes to be stuck for four hours waiting for the next bus to appear!

Hi Karen Glad you're coming to Clare - I'm sure you'll love it. You should take a train from London Liverpool Street to Sudbury and then there is a bus to Clare. Fingers crossed for good weather for you. Keith

Hi We are moving to Hundon in a couple of months from London. What banks are available in Clare if any. If there are no banks in Clare could you tell us where the nearest Barclays and Abbey banks are situated. Thanks very much. Rita and Gary

Hi there, Don't know if this fits you search, but the parents of my maternal GM, May Ince born 28th September 1884, are listed as Samuel Ince and Mary Ince, formerly BAREHAM. The family lived at 2 Hawthorn Villas, Haverhill Family narriative was that GGP's were Joseph and Susan BAREHAM, (nee Payne) - 2 sons Samuel and Joseph. Joseph was a horekeeper at Gurteen's clothing factory and Weathersfield Hosue. Julia BAREHAM, sister of Susan, was a cook at Hanchett Hall. I haven't as yet corroborated this information with actual searches. elizabethbostock@waitrose.com

I don't know if anyone out there can help me but I am trying to find a bloke called Andrew Russell who I met in Cuba in the year 2000. Andrew was there with his then girlfriend Rebecca. His address was his parents address I think, which was 24 Highfields, Clare, Suffolk so I was wondering if anyone knows Andrew, could you let him know I am trying to find him please or if he could leave a message on here perhaps ?
